Nació en Roma, Italia, en 1931, donde pasó la segunda guerra mundial, acontecimiento que lo marcará toda la vida. Completó sus estudios en Italia y más tarde en Inglaterra. Techint, la empresa para la que trabajaba en Milán, lo traslada a la Argentina en 1958, donde formará una familia y donde residirá hasta el final de su vida. Su pasión por la arqueología lo impulsó al estudio de la numismática y a comenzar su colección de monedas españolas “coloniales” en los años sesenta.
Fue curioso e inquieto, todo lo encaraba con método y pasión, tanto en el ámbito laboral con el comercio de acero, como en la investigación numismática. A principios de los 90 fundó el Museo de la Ciudad de Coronel Pringles en Argentina, con el propósito de estimular en los jóvenes, amor por el aprendizaje e interés en la investigación. Optimista, humilde y generoso, sus contribuciones a través de la institución enriquecieron el aprendizaje juvenil en ciencias naturales y materias humanísticas.
Fue Presidente del Centro Numismático de Buenos Aires y miembro de la Academia Argentina de Numismática así como de otras instituciones especializadas, entre las cuales figuran la American Numismatic Society y el Instituto Uruguayo de Numismática. Su investigación en materia numismática ha quedado registrada en sus libros, en numerosas exposiciones y en conferencias numismáticas que pronunció en el país y en el exterior.
He was born in Rome, Italy, in 1931, where he spent the Second World War, an event that marked him for a lifetime. He completed his studies in Italy and later in England. Techint, the company for which he worked in Milan, moved him to Argentina in 1958, where he would start a family and remain his home until his final days. His passion for archeology led him to the study of numismatics and the beginning of his collection of “colonial” Spanish coins in the 1960s.
He was curious and restless, and approached everything with method and passion, both in the workplace in the steel trade as well as in numismatics. In the early 90s he founded the Museum of the City of Coronel Pringles, in Argentina. with the purpose of stimulating in young people a love of learning and an interest in research. Optimistic, humble, and generous, his contributions through this institution provided enrichment learning opportunities for young people in the natural sciences and the humanities.
He is a former President of the Buenos Aires Numismatic Center and a member of Argentine Academy of Numismatics as well as other specialized institutions, among which are the American Numismatic Society and the Uruguayan Numismatic Institute. His research on numismatics was recorded in books, in numerous numismatic events and he was a speaker at many numismatic conferences in Argentina and abroad.
